Herman Miller is an international furniture design and manufacturing company. Their focus is modern home and office furniture. One of their designs is Magis Puppy, which can be used as a child’s stool or simply as sculpture.
Herman Miller periodically brings together their clients, allied organizations, designers and staff in various locations across the US for a social gathering and Magis Puppy Competition. Those participating are challenged with creating designs using the Magis Puppy as the basis for creativity. These creations are judged and then they are auctioned off and the proceeds are donated to a non-profit organization.
Three awards are presented based on the following criteria;
TOP DOG – Most innovative, creative
BEST HANDLER – Team spirit – best use of pre-event social media participation by the team
BEST IN SHOW- Most eye-catching
Recently, Herman Miller held a competition in Coral Gables, Florida. Alliance of Therapy Dogs was invited to participate and receive the proceeds from the auction. Here are some of the very creative submissions:
Pat Coglianese, President of the ATD board acted as one of the judges. Several ATD members, George Griffin, Alexandra Ramos and Arlene Tanel, participated in the event as well. Alexandra even brought her dog, Zeus, along to join in the festivities.
The winners were:
Top Dog – Crystal Geo Puppy
Best Handler – Mop Puppy
Best in Show – Dogiva
Thank you to Herman Miller and to Gipsy Alonso for organizing the event and being so welcoming. ATD now has over 16,000 members handling over 18,000 dogs. We really appreciate the support from Herman Miller and will put the donation to good use.
